Violinist Benjamin Bowman performs Stravinksy’s Duo Concertant on the Metropolitan Opera Stage

This week, the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) presents ‘Classic Spectacular’ and Guest Concertmaster, Benjamin Bowman, is joining the mix. He debuted on the Metropolitan Opera stage yesterday performing Stravinksy’s Duo Concertant with pianist Emily Wong – the work is paired with beautiful Balanchine choreography (yesterday, executed effortlessly by Misty Copeland and Eric Tamm). The lighting is also very effective in this work – originally designed by Ronald Bates and recreated by Mark Stanley last night.
The rest of the program is nicely contrasting, the Stravinsky is sandwiched by Themes & Variations (Tchaikovsky) and Gaîté Parisienne (Offenbach) – amazing costumes in that Gaîté!
There are 3 more performances (2 today and 1 tomorrow). If you’re in NYC, check it out. Details here.
