National Post: Rosemarie Umetsu Day 4
Leading up to the Amici Chamber Ensemble’s FASHIONISTA concert January 29, Rosemarie Umetsu is writing a five day diary in the National Post Arts section. Here’s day 4! Details on Fashionista at amiciensemble.com.
I bid adieu to NYC and wish I could bottle some of the high energy NYC brews and bring it home! Business was focussed on a presentation of a capsule of bespoke suits we specifically designed for Pianist Lang Lang, who charmingly arrived wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater. Look out for him to be donning Atelier Rosemarie Umetsu in the coming months!! Other highlights included seeing Tosca at the MET; attending Danielle De Niese’s ‘Beauty of Baroque’ cd launch at LPRNYC; hearing legendary Bill Frisell at the Blue Note; and a superb concert with Chrisopher O’Riley and Matt Haimovitz at the Highline Ballroom. A true FASHIONISTA moment was needing a full length mirror at the Hudson, so pianist Olga Kern, could fit her new gown, for Carnegie Hall. The amazing concierge found the mirror in their Executive offices. Yet, staff may not have received the memo, so Olga’s unannounced appearance in their offices in a dramatic red gown was priceless.
