It’s Pink Shirt Day: the Georgia Straight features Joyce El-Khoury
Soprano Joyce El-Khoury is in Vancouver preparing to perform Rosalinde in Vancouver Opera’s Die Fledermaus opening February 28. Joyce has been outspoken against bullying and since she was in Canada for Pink Shirt Day, she wanted to help raise awareness. Here’s a quote from her feature in today’s Georgia Straight:
“For El-Khoury, of course, singing was the way out. Though the bullying had taken a toll on her self-esteem and she suffered severe shyness, she always had a remarkable voice. “Singing for me was the only thing I could do in my classes that no one else could do. That’s where I was untouchable,” she recalls.” – click here for full article.
